ACTA PETROLOGICA ET MINERALOGICA magazine is an academic journal jointly hosted by the professional committee of petrology and the professional committee of mineralogy under Geological Society of China, and Geological Research Institute under the Chinese academy of Geological Sciences. It belongs to the geology category of nationwide Chinese core periodicals, is bimonthly published by Science Press, offered publicly at home and abroad. The publish date is on the 25th of every singular month.    

   The predecessor of ACTA PETROLOGICA ET MINERALOGICA magazine was ACTA PETROLOGICA MINERALOGICA ET ANALYICA which was first published in 1982. In 1986, according to the (85) GKFCZ No. 662 document issued by the State Science and Technology Commission,  the ACTA PETROLOGICA MINERALOGICA ET ANALYICA magazine was divided into two periodicals: ACTA PETROLOGICA ET MINERALOGICA and Rock and Mineral Analysis.  

    Since founded, ACTA PETROLOGICA ET MINERALOGICA magazine  always follows the policy of running periodicals“letting a hundred flowers bloom, a hundred schools of thought contend”, adheres to the objective of publication “both popularization and improvement”, carries out academic exchanges and discussions, selects the scientific research and teaching staff of geoscience as the main target of readers, serves the acceleration of modernization construction.        

    According to the retrieve from authoritative organization, the ACTA PETROLOGICA ET MINERALOGICA magazine was included in the database of National Index to Chinese Newspaper & Periodicals (natural science and technology edition), the ABSTRACTS OF CHINESE GEOLOGICAL LITERATURE, China Chemical Abstract etc.,  AJ VINITI magazine (Russian) and the Bibliography and Index of Geology" (BIG)  (the United States), the Chemical Abstracts (CA), the GEOREF and the Cambridge Scientific Abstract, etc. It has been the core journal of Chinese Geological Literature Database System (GDS), ABSTRACTS OF CHINESE GEOLOGICAL LITERATURE and ABSTRACTS OF CHINESE GEOLOGICAL LITERATURE (English version).
