Invited by Prof. James D.L. White, Head of the Department of Geology, University of Otago, Dr. XIANG Zhongjin visited this University to carry out collaborative research as a visiting scholar from October 21, 2019 to April 9, 2020. During his stay, Dr. XIANG worked with Prof. White and Dr. Marco Brenna in analysis of clastic deposits from submarine eruptions, both relatively young ones in NZ at Kakanui, and much older ones in Qinling Origin, China. The studies also involved field observations at Dunedin and Kakanui, together with petrographic observations of both Kakanui and Qinling rocks. They also worked together to write up the results.
