Main research fields: Long engaging in research of sedimentary geology, regional geology, petroleum geology, stratigraphy and chronostratigraphy, especially the distribution and evolution of terrestrial biota of Late Mesozoic in North China, continental volcano-sedimentary stratigraphy, chronostratigraphy, volcano magmatism, tectonic and sedimentary geology, including evolution of basin development, filling construction, sedimentary paleogeography and environmental research field, he holds the basis of the preliminary work for long-term and large amount of actual data and achievements. In 2005-2007, he has won 1 first class and 2 second class of the scientific and technological progress of the Ministry of Land and Resources. Since 2000, he has co-edited 3 monographs, published more than 30 papers.
